Bookshelf

I hadn't posted here in awhile and I thought I might write down some thoughts from today. My relief society shared with us an analogy that got me thinking. I wanted to expand a little more on it. She said a testimony is like a bookshelf. It encompasses a lot of different topics. Some books are thick being full with many pages and others are as small as a tiny pamphlet.

Unlike normal books the thickness of each book can be changed at anytime. If we leave them on the shelf to collect dust the pages will thin, and could eventually go entirely. If we frequently study them they will grow thicker. We must frequently turn the pages of each topic in order to grow our entire bookshelf. We cannot just rely soley on our thickest books and get by. We must grow all of them! And it will surely take a life-time.

How can we grow them? By faith first. That can mean looking to another's testiomony for help. Or really praying for frequent guidance with a little studying on your own time. Then lastly comes action. Action even if you don't fully understand or enjoy that topic.

The older I have become the more I realize that things get harder! Just because you have more experience doesn't mean that you are always stronger. Anytime you need help the Savior is there. It's not always easy but He will always be there to guide you. I know you will get His help! All you have to do is have the faith and the courage to ask and then act!
