Faith & Play-Dough
Yesterday I listened to a great Relief Society lesson that made me think. She referred to our faith like play-dough. She even brought some to see. How on earth can play-dough relate to faith? I had to really think where she was going with it at first. But I have some thoughts I want to share on the matter.
Faith is like play-dough because the more you use it the more moveable it becomes. You can build beautiful things out of it. Rather then letting it sit for days at a time. At that point it becomes hard and unusable. If we don't use our faith often and correctly it will dry out until doubt fills our souls. Eventually we become so hard we don't even know what we believe.
I noticed something else that really made me think. She put the play-dough back inside a container and sealed it tight. It can also refer to our faith. We must protect it. We can't leave it in the open to let just anything contaminate it.
This world is scary and unsure. I know faith in the gospel is where the peace comes from. Without the gospel of Jesus Christ I would be scared, and searching for my comfort. We must press forward having faith and trust in things we do and don't know. It will all work out. All we have to do is continue on.
